Update Templates Across Multiple Projects

As users iterate on their processes and Templates, they need to be able to Update existing templated projects with the new template. There should be a prompt that says "Would you like to update all projects currently using this template?" If I say yes, it should apply the new actions associated with that template.

Hi All-
We are taking a piecemeal approach to this request. We discussed this feature with a few users and found that the two main updates that need to be made across multiple projects are:
- Adding a new action to multiple projects
- Updating custom fields across multiple projects
We have added support for these two types of updates but if there are additional updates you wish to make across multiple projects, please create a separate request for them. Thank you!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
More info on these new features:
To add an action to multiple projects, simply go to the more menu and click 'Add action to multiple projects. From there, select which projects you want to add this action to and confirm. Please note that labels, assignees, etc will not carry over to the target project if they are not already present in the target project. Dependencies will only carry over if they are contained within the action family. Dependencies from one action to another action (outside of the one you're copying) will not carry over.
To add a custom field to multiple projects, go to the custom field settings page and click on the number of projects under the 'Used in' column for the field you wish to update. Then select which projects you would like to add the field to and confirm.

Kate Mcdonough if you were hoping for more than just adding actions or custom fields, here's a separate request I just created. It looks like the team is just doing the aforementioned items at this time. https://hiveteams.canny.io/feature-requests/p/update-template-subactions-and-descriptions-across-multiple-projects

Kelley Bunge to confirm, there is no plan to allow users to rollout an updated existing template action to multiple projects? For EG: a subaction was changed or the action card description has been updated on the template
J
Jennifer Zieg
amanda kreimer: I just added that as a separate request given Kelley Bunge's mention of their piecemeal approach. Please upvote it to get this rolling. Thank you! https://hiveteams.canny.io/feature-requests/p/update-template-subactions-and-descriptions-across-multiple-projects
Kelley Bunge
amanda kreimer: Correct, no plan for that at the moment.

As long as overriding doesn't mean the entire template overrides the current projects, we should be good. Just having the one adjustment you made be carried across all projects using that template would be best.
For example, adding a single action, changing a dependency, or removing a few actions would be beneficial rather than a single change leading to the template resetting on all current projects. This may have been assumed, but I figured it can't hurt to be super clear. :)

Jennifer Zieg: I agree! We don't want the whole project to be overwritten. We just want the new action cards or changed dependencies, etc to be added or removed from the current existing projects using that template.

Jennifer Zieg: I agree with Jennifer and Amy. I would like to see the ability to launch just the updates made to the template rather than a complete re-write of the project. I'm not sure if Hive would be able to detect what change was made and apply just that change to all applicable projects, but that's the path I'd love to see!

Kelley Bunge: This feature would really make Hive stand out in great usability for admins and organizational change management. It's great to see this reviewed so quick.
