Provide functionality to generate an independent timeline (e.g., high level perspective) of project activities and milestones, like in MS Project. Should be able to build independent from Gantt chart. Gantt chart needs to let users configure the time scale, because current implementation does not display shorter tasks.

This would be really useful. Also, I cannot believe that we are only able to see the % complete of a plan based on how many actions are complete out of the total amount of actions. We manage our actions by marking their % complete in each action card. I would expect it to be standard that the % complete of the sub-actions will roll up to the parent and then roll up to the overall % complete of the plan to get a much more realistic percentage for reporting to management.

It would be good to have this combine this request with a summary view gantt / timeline, we have projects which go up to 4-5 layers deep on actions so with the 3000 action limit, you cant ever have all our projects in one summary view so its very hard to manage our entire calendar in that way.
Having a summary view where you can just see highest level parent actions would be really helpful and then pull in all projects.

We structure our Gantt with a Parent project which holds all project level detail and then each child project holds the detail to each "product" that is under development. It would be fantastic to have the ability to be able summarise the child project dates in the parent project without having to do this manually.

MS Project does this well, but what would build on that is to see timelines from all projects in a portfolio at once. The ability in a portfolio to see milestones is cool, but not all of our projects share the same milestones; seeing whatever is chosen to be on a timeline together in one view would be great.

I agree 100% with this suggestion! Trying to adjust Gantt charts so that they fit onto one page (for sharing during a presentation or in an email) to give leadership a high-level view of what's going on is a nightmare.
In fact, I eventually gave up on trying to use Hive for communication to executives, and starting creating visual timeline summaries manually in Adobe InDesign.

Hey folks! There's some great feedback here, we're going to be doing some user outreach to understand these more. Please keep up the feedback and keep votes :-)

Having a view of selected activities and milestones is a must for any project review. Also, having the ability to display those on the same line make it easier to get a project overview.

One should also be able to construct timeline by choosing tasks on the gantt. currently this is possible only via labels which is cumbersome
