Agreed, basic formating as found in the action card description would be great. also the ability to hyperlink a word/words which would disable the link preview would also be great

I also agree. It doesn't need to be crazy, but should include the basics and bulleted text and the ability to setoff a quoted block of text as well as have a way to input code in a fixed width block that can be referenced when assigning tasks to other developers or for when SEO is sending a task that has google analytics code snippets.

Want to be able to add bullets, indentation and other text formatting within tasks comments to make them easier to follow.

It would also be helpful to be able to embed images within the body of a comment and insert a table similar to Jira.
