Agree here — like an "up next" area for tasks that I want to focus on for the day so I don't have to scroll through all my tasks to find what I'm working on.

totally necessary. something may not be a high priority but is required to be pinned at the top.

I would also like to be able to pin action cards to the top on the status view while also keeping the rest of the actions/cards in date order

You can kind of do this by setting the priority as high
