Without the ability to add a project to actions created from emails sent to Hive, the action is automatically visible to everyone.

Hi Joseph Dioguardi. You can automate your workspace so that any Action created without a Project will be sent under a specific project. This way when you create action cards from anywhere in the workspace they will funnel to a Project you choose. Then you can set the required permissions on your personal project to private.
In the community library there is a recipe titled: "When Action Card is created with no Project, assign to specific Project" that should give you a good starting point for how to get this up and running.
Check out our help article below for using recipes from the community library:

Brian Holthouse: Thank you for your reply. This does not help the action you do not wish to set to a specific project initially or may wish to make a decision later as to which project you wish to assign it to but in the mean time you would like to move it out of your email inbox and create an action out of the email in Hive. As a work around, I have created a project called Unassigned (which is redundant in Hive since Hive has the ability to leave actions unassigned) which is set to Private and I send all my email Inbox items that I wish to convert into action to the email address for that project as reassign them later as need.

What is the functional need to have unassigned actions as public?

Joseph Dioguardi: Completely understand. The recipe above will at least help automatically assign those Actions to that 'Unassigned' Project for you.

Brian Holthouse: They are automatically assigned by virtue of sending them to the email address specific to the "Unassigned" project which is Private.

Joseph Dioguardi: Ah ok that is another way to do it. I usually just click the 'Create Action' button in the Mail app within Hive.
