Improve Consistency and Reporting Capabilities Between Timesheet and Time Tracking Reports

We recently identified several inconsistencies between Hive’s Timesheet and Time Tracking functionality and reporting, which make it difficult to reliably use Hive for operational reporting and billing.
First, time entered directly in the timesheet under the “Other” or “No Category” rows is included in timesheet totals but does not appear in Time Tracking reports, because those reports only include time associated with specific action cards. This can create discrepancies between timesheet totals and time tracking reports depending on how time was entered.
In addition to this discrepancy, the Timesheet and Time Tracking reports contain different data points and formatting, which prevents either report from fully meeting reporting needs:
Timesheet Reports
- Include custom fields (important for us because we capture Cost Center Codes)
- Allow filtering to ensure reports only contain relevant data
- Do not include Action Titles
- Consolidate all time entries for a given day into a single row, combining comments instead of preserving individual entries
Time Tracking Reports
- Include Action Titles
- Provide one row per individual time entry, which is useful for auditing and billing
- Do not support custom fields
- Do not provide filtering options, resulting in reports that include unnecessary data and require significant manual formatting
Because of these differences, neither report can be used independently to meet reporting requirements, forcing teams to manually reconcile and reformat data before it can be shared with management or finance.
Suggested improvements could include:
- Ensure time entered in the “Other/No Category” rows appears in Time Tracking reports, or provide a warning when entries will not appear in reports
- Align Timesheet and Time Tracking reporting datasets and behaviors, or consolidate into a single reporting template for both
- Allow Action Titles to appear in Timesheet reports
- Preserve one row per time entry in Timesheet reporting rather than consolidating entries by day
- Allow custom fields (e.g., Cost Center Code) to appear in Time Tracking reports
- Provide filtering capabilities in Time Tracking reports

Agree 100% Please add more filters like tags to reporting. Also, allow reporting to be reported by placeholders. It is currently not working.
