With the new change, clicking on the action card row in Gantt will automatically open the action for you, but that's not always useful.

When I’m in a Teams meeting, I would click on an item just so the blue bar would “highlight” it and the people in the meeting could see what activity we were discussing. Now it opens up automatically. Also, I click on an activity so I can see the item in the Gantt chart.

If someone wants to open an activity card, they would click on the other spot instead of clicking on the title. One click either way. Not a time saver in my opinion.
