I would like to see the day (name) (M/T/W/T/F) together with the day of the month (number) in Gantt chart

Was just going to suggest the same feature. However, the recommended letter for the weekday must be unique (e.g., Tuesday = T, Thursday = R). Weekends could be indicated by different shading.
An alternate solution to the weekday abbreviation would be to use a 2-letter code (i.e., Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa, Su). This would also address weekend day distinction (vs. S & S).
