Dynamic resourcing

Resourcing should reflect time tracked and subtract that from the remaining hours. For instance, if a project has 8 hours over two days, it's currently set to 4 hours / day. However, if someone works on that project for 6 hours on the first day and only has 2 hours of work to do the next day, they're still blocked for 4 hours which throws off the resourcing view.
Additionally, we may plan to spend 6 hours on one day and 2 on the other but are unable to break up the task that way which results in the appearance of being over- or under-resourced.
We also have the need to pause a longer project for a day. For instance, we may need to switch to other projects and come back to the longer project the next day, but that project is still showing up as needing time during that pause day.

If someone finishes their task ahead of time, that delta should become available for the resource to work on something else.

Hi Rebecca Tremblay, the functionality to split a multi-day action time estimate in a custom way - from your example, 8 hours over 2 days to be split into 6 hours the 1st day and 2 the 2nd, or to "pause" a project for a day - does exist within Hive.
In the action card, under time-tracking next to the estimated hours you have inserted, there should be a calendar icon - use that to customize your time estimate among many days.
I'm not from the Hive team, but if you or anyone else can't find it, would be happy to help a fellow Hive user - shoot me an email at alexispityris@gmail.com

Alexis Pityris: Oh that's good to know! Thank you for that insight. Is there a way to automatically subtract the time someone spent on a project?

Rebecca Tremblay: Not that I know of, unfortunately. It will make for a great addition though, if Hive decides to go forward with it - thanks for suggesting!
The workaround I've been using, is to split the big project that's taking many hours/days into smaller sub-actions that can be done in a day - not always possible/practical but good to try. This way, you'll have better clarity on where your team is at, as they are checking off work
